Our company, AES Gener, Magma Energy and Lecherías Loncomilla, together with the U.S. Embassy, joined forces to help young people in rural areas, who need this home in order to continue their secondary education.

Talca, November 18, 2010 – A month passed since the start of earth movings until the inauguration of the new building for the Talca Bishop’s Villa Prat Students House, which was destroyed by the earthquake on February 27 and that was rebuilt as part of the country-wide reconstruction effort named Desafío Levantemos Chile.

The amount investment exceeded 105 million Chilean pesos. Funds were provided by Tecno Fast Atco, the U.S. Embassy to Chile, AES Gener, Magma Energy and Lecherías Loncomilla, while the Bishop took over the earth movement and field fencing. By so doing we were able to rebuild this Center, which houses 40 young men and women who come mainly from the rural town of Villa Prat. They commute daily to school in Talca, the capital of the Maule Region.

The new home is a 100% modular 364 m2, one-floor building and the final installation was also conducted by workers from our company. It is subdivided into a dining room, kitchen bathroom, study room and chapel, recreation area and bedrooms with shared bathrooms. The facility was also delivered with all the necessary equipment to be used by students: two story bed bedrooms, dining tables, refrigerator, bedside table and even a table soccer.

The inauguration was attended by Maule Region Mayor, Rodrigo Galilea, the Talca Governor, Jose Arellano, the U.S. Ambassador to Chile Alejandro Wolff D, as well as religious leaders, city representatives and representatives from different companies participating in the project.

San José Mine, Chile – 15/10/2010 – The successful completion of the historic rescue mission of 33 miners in the Mina San Jose, who were trapped for 70 days at 700 under the ground was regarded as a miracle worldwide.

It is a tremendous honor to us to have contributed to the success of this mission, after providing the rescue team 33 modular units to built in record time the “Triage and Rest Area” where the rescued miners were able to receive early medical care, health stabilization and meet their families.

We began to send the modular units to the Mina San Jose on Friday 1 October from our plant Lampa, Santiago. A truck convoy arrived at its destination on Saturday morning. Mining Minister Laurence Golborne received our modules and immediately began construction, with areas specifically designed to protect miners and others to meet family members and President Sebastián Piñera.

It is a privilege to Tecno Fast Atco to have been part of such an incredible operation, one that is unparalleled in man history”, said Louie Guglielmo, our general manager. He noted that during 70 days the world’s eyes were focused on the fate of these 33 people.

Minister Laurence Golborne oversaw the production of the 34 modules that will be the stabilization zone and the rest area for the miners after they are rescued.

Santiago, September 30, 2010 – Mining Minister Laurence Golborne visited our facilities in order to monitor the manufacturing process of the modules with which we will build the Medical Triage area and rest area for the 33 miners once they are rescued.

Given the urgency, the manufacturing and assembly process of the 34 modules is in its final stages. These modules will be used to build the two facilities, one of which will be the triage, where miners will receive the first medical care. For this task 13 modules will be used. The other facility will be the rest area: 21 modules will be used to implement an area to share with relatives and another one with beds, showers, bathrooms and air conditioning. Both facilities will occupy an area of 525 m2.

Minister Laurence Golborne together with our general manager, Cristián Goldberg, toured the plant checking the quality of the modules to be sent and their construction characteristics in detail.
“Our company is proud to be part of the efforts being made across the country to bring the miners back home. Our contribution is a recognition to all Chilean miners”, Christian Goldberg V. said.

We reaffirm our commitment to the community, especially with the Debra Chile Foundation, which does valuable work in support of the people who carry the epidermolysis bullosa, skin disease known as crystal skin.

Our general manager, Cristián Goldberg, had the opportunity to meet the reality that day after day the Debra Foundation tries to alleviate, and wanted our company to support that mission.

The aid given to families with members affceted with epidermolysis bullosa consists in the installation in the homes of specially equipped modules, like bathrooms, in order for patients’ to avoid infections, that are very frequent in people with crystal skin.

“The facilities that Tecno Fast Atco produces mean a great deal of improvement in the quality of life of these families. Counting on a bathroom special coating significantly alliviates wounds and reduces the risk of infections generated by epidermolysis bullosa,” says Loreto Moore, general manager Debra Foundation.

Part of the collaboration Tecno Fast Atco has provided includes the construction of three specially equipped bathrooms that were sent to Putú, a small town located in the Maule Region. It benefited the family of Robinson González, a boy who suffers this disease and that was born in Constitución just three days after the earthquake, says Loreto.

Debra Foundation works intensively to ensure that those affected with this disease have access to doctors, wound treatment and psychological counseling. In Chile, there are currently 175 people cases of people who carry epidermolysis bullosa.

Juan Fernandez island was one of the most affected areas by the tsunami in February. Dozens of buildings were swept by the sea, including the school where 130 children studied. This difficult situation will only be overcome with the support of everyone.

Juan Fernández school was donated by Doña Inés de Collahuasi mining company, who put their trust in us to do the project. We put all our hearts and experience to pull it off, always working as a team.

The new school facilities have the highest standards and gives the island and their children in a 21st century infrastructure. Everything was built with 38 modules with Chinese technology, which is the latest innovation that Tecno Fast Atco is working with. This allowed us to deliver a six classroom building with six classrooms, two technology labs with 16 computers, kitchen, playground, school supplies , backpacks and books. All in less than 15 days.

Thanks to the effort put in the reconstruction of our country’s central and southern regions, our company took part in the construction of over 11,000 m2 of school modules. This allowed timely admission to classes to more than 14,000 children affected by the earthquake.

We at Tecno Fast Atco have not ceased to put all our experience and team effort in the reconstruction of our country’s central and southern regions after what happened on February 27.

During the past two months Tecno Fast Atco has actively participated in the Desafío Levantemos Chile, specifically in the construction of more than 11,000 m2 of school modules. This has allowed timely admission to classes to more than 14,000 children. In this way, Tecno Fast Atco was instrumental in the goal imposed by the government of more than 1.25 million students to be back into their classrooms in just two months.

Children from Constitución, Cauquenes, Juan Fernandez, Talca, Dichato and Iloca, the symbol of the challenge, already count with their classrooms, modern equipment and supplies to carry out the school year 2010. This is a source of great pride and gives us energy to move forward. The best reward was seeing the smile of children when they return to school and see their pals.

The commitment of our team was key during all this process, which has involved extra work and great commitment. This has been reflected in the speed with which schools have been built. But despite the rush and urgency with which we have operated, the quality of the facilities has never been jeopardized, and this is also something that fills us with pride and the desire to keep working and contributing to the reconstruction of the area.

Together with providing all our knowledge when building the schools, our company has also donated modular solutions for other purposes, such as a polyclinic, a police station and municipal offices in the town of Duao, and the Cauquenes Hospital stay-in patients unit. In addition, in Iloca, where the first school of the reconstruction was built, we provided 80 mediaguas.

Further south, in Caleta Tubul, our company also had an important role in the local school construction.
